IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra

As per the report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted in some parts of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Andhra Pradesh on November 10 and 11. Meanwhile, waterlogging has been recorded in several areas of Chennai due to heavy showers. The weather department issued a red alert in Cuddalore, Viluppuram, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Karaikal on Wednesday. Stay tuned for LIVE weather updates.
Weather department predicts heavy showers in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh
The weather department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in some parts of Tamil Nadu and the adjoining Andhra Pradesh till Thursday. The report read, "Heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy falls at isolated places are also likely over south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period."
As per the IMD norms, rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm is heavy and between 115.6 and 204.4 is very heavy. The weather department suggests that anything above 204.4 mm is considered extremely heavy rainfall.
